Description
Xoriguer Mahon Gin, a speciality from Menorca, the north-easternmost island of the Balearic Islands, is characterised by its traditional production method. This speciality gin is distilled in classic, wood-fired pot stills in the capital city of Mahon. The basis for this process is brandy (eau de vie), whereby the gin is brought directly to the desired drinking strength. After distillation, the gin matures for a short time in American oak barrels, which gives it unique flavours.
The selection of botanicals used for Xoriguer Mahon Gin remains a closely guarded secret, which contributes to the mystique and Faszination of the brand. This secrecy is part of the gin’s long history, which has been produced in Menorca since the 18th century. It was originally produced for the British navy, which was stationed on the island at the time.
The name of the gin is derived from an old windmill, which is not only a symbol of Menorca, but is also proudly depicted on the gin’s label. This historical reference emphasises the deep roots of Xoriguer Mahon Gin in the culture and history of Menorca.
