The art of bourbon making began as early as 1812 on the grounds of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a nationally recognised historic landmark. When you visit, you can feel the deep historical heritage. The history of bourbon is closely intertwined with the history of Kentucky and, by extension, the United States.
The water used to make Woodford Reserve is sourced directly at the distillery. It undergoes natural filtration through the limestone deposits on the property. This iron-free and mineral-rich water is a crucial factor in the production process, contributing significantly to the quality and uniqueness of the bourbon.
Woodford Reserve Straight Rye Whiskey is characterised by its carefully selected mash bill, consisting of 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% barley. This composition is typical of many traditional American whiskeys before Prohibition and gives the whiskey a perfectly balanced character.
