Description

The Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is part of the highly acclaimed Legacy Series from the still young Torabhaig Distillery, located on the south coast of the Scottish Isle of Skye. Bottled at 46% alcohol by volume in a high-quality 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this peated single malt whisky is an expression of the rugged island nature and the tradition-conscious distilling skills of the new generation of Scottish distilleries.

The whisky is matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, which gives it a wonderfully balanced combination of smoky character, vanilla sweetness and fresh spice. The peated barley malt used creates a powerful yet elegant peat character that harmonises with the maritime notes of the Isle of Skye and the clear structure of the distillate. Despite its youthfulness, the Sound of Sleat impresses with its depth, structure and aromatic maturity.

Torabhaig is the second legal distillery on Skye after Talisker – and this bottling impressively demonstrates the potential of this new whisky era.

Tasting NoteColour: Light gold.

Nose: Smoky and fresh with notes of peat, citrus, barley malt, vanilla and salty sea air.

Flavour: Strong and structured with peat smoke, spicy wood, sweetness of honey and vanilla, plus light maritime notes.

Finish: Langs, dry and smoky with a salty depth and a fine herbal note.

The Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is ideally enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to bring out its smoky, maritime character and bourbon cask flavours to the full. It also cuts an excellent figure as an accompaniment to smoked meat, grilled lamb, mature cheese or dark chocolate. Perfect for whisky tastings, as a gift or for lovers of peaty island malts who appreciate a young, powerful bottling with depth and provenance.
