Description
Togouchi is produced by Chugoku Jozo, a distillery in the city of Togouchi in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The distillery is located in a natural cave system that was originally built as a railway tunnel, but was later converted into an ideal environment for maturing whisky. The cool, damp conditions in the tunnels provide an optimal climate for maturing whisky, resulting in a product that is rich in flavour and character.
As the name suggests, this Togouchi is a blended whisky. This means that it is not made from the distillates of a single distillery, but from the products of many different distilleries. The individual distillates are blended together to create a harmonious overall result. The distillates for the Togouchi Premium Blended Whisky were matured for five years in Spanish oak casks, which is rather short for a whisky, and finished in ex-sherry casks. Despite its youth, however, this whisky manages to exhibit an appealing wealth of nuances.

Nose: Coarse, notes of butterscotch and candy floss, hints of freshly cut grass.
Flavour: Sweet, coconut, cornbread, marshmallows, white pepper, nutmeg, notes of caramel and exotic fruits.
Finish: Langs, spicy, sweet.
