Description

The Dalmore CIGAR MALT Reserve is an expressive Highland single malt Scotch whisky, at 44 per cent, presented in a generous 1-litre bottle complete with a gift box. The Dalmore Distillery in the Scottish Highlands is particularly renowned for its meticulous use of different cask types. The Cigar Malt Reserve combines whiskies from three different types of cask: ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak, Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks, and barriques that previously contained Cabernet Sauvignon. This multi-layered cask selection lends the bottling its robust and complex character and makes it stand out distinctly within the Dalmore range.

As the name suggests, the Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve was specifically designed as a single malt whisky to be enjoyed with a cigar. In particular, the long-matured Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks play a central role here, blending with the vanilla and woody notes of American oak and the fruity influence of the Cabernet Sauvignon casks. The result is a full-bodied Highland whisky with sufficient intensity to hold its own even when paired with an aromatic cigar. The combination of triple-cask maturation, a higher ABV of 44% and the generous 1-litre bottle size makes this bottling a particularly interesting choice for lovers of full-bodied, cask-influenced single malts.

Tasting NoteColour: Dark amber with warm coppery highlights.

Nose: Toasted oak, bourbon vanilla, red berries and cinnamon with ripe, sweet and spicy notes.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with caramelised banana, vanilla cream, pineapple and coconut, accompanied by a subtle salty note and increasingly toasty oak.

Finish: Long-lasting, robust and spicy with orange zest, vanilla and subtle oak notes.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve is primarily designed to be enjoyed neat at room temperature, paired with a medium-bodied to full-bodied cigar; cigars with notes of wood, leather, cocoa or spices are particularly well-suited. Culinary pairings include grilled beef, game or strong, mature hard cheese. To round off a meal, dark chocolate, chocolate desserts, caramelised nuts or desserts featuring orange and vanilla harmonise very well with its intense cask character.
