The Balvenie The Creation of a Classic is a special bottling from the renowned Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, and celebrates the birth of a now widely used maturation process: maturation in sherry casks. This whisky edition honours the pioneering work of Balvenie’s long-time Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, who developed the “Double Cask Maturation” process in the 1980s – first maturation in ex-bourbon casks, followed by a finish in Oloroso sherry casks.
The whisky is bottled at 43% vol., is not chill-filtered and impresses with its harmonious balance of sweet oak spice, fruity notes and creamy texture. The combination of American white oak and Spanish sherry wood gives it depth, softness and elegance – typical of Balvenie, but with the added appeal of a special historical context. This bottling comes in a stylish gift box that will appeal to collectors and connoisseurs alike.
