Balvenie 14 Years Old Caribbean Cask Finish is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle, presented in this attractive gift set comprising a gift box and two glasses. Its 14-year maturation begins in traditional oak whisky casks. For the subsequent finishing, the long-serving Malt Master and current Honorary Ambassador, David C. Stewart MBE, employed a special process: He first filled American oak casks with a blend of selected rums from the West Indies that he had put together himself. Once the casks had taken on the desired rum character, they were used to finish Balvenie Single Malt.
The Caribbean Rum Cask Finish adds further depth to Balvenie’s traditional, smooth and honeyed character, whilst particularly emphasising the vanilla notes typical of the distillery. At the same time, the additional maturation in casks previously filled with Caribbean rum brings extra spice and fruit to the whisky. The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Years Old is thus one of the best-known examples of David Stewart’s pioneering work with different cask types, combining classic Speyside whisky with the influence of Caribbean rum casks. With its combination of 14 years’ maturation, a rum cask finish, 43% ABV, plus two glasses and a gift box, this edition is particularly well-suited as a premium whisky gift and for shared tastings.
