Terra d’Aligi Tatone Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2022 14% Vol. 0,75l
£12.39
The Terra d’Aligi Tatone Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2022 is a powerful, full-bodied red wine from the picturesque region of Abruzzo in central Italy. Made from the autochthonous Montepulciano grape variety, this wine comes from the Terra d’Aligi winery, which specialises in wines with a strong character and regional expression. The name “Tatone” – an affectionate expression for “grandfather” in the local dialect – refers to the powerful yet gentle nature of this special wine.
The grapes come from vineyards with calcareous clay soils, situated on optimal slopes characterised by Mediterranean influences and cool downslope winds from the Prager. After careful harvesting, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then matured for several months in oak barrels, which gives it structure, depth and ageing potential. The 2022 vintage is particularly balanced, with concentrated fruit, ripe tannin structure and good drinkability.
Tasting NoteIn the glass, the Tatone has a deep ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose reveals a multi-layered bouquet with aromas of ripe wild berries, black cherries, stewed plums, tobacco and delicate roasted flavours. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, juicy and powerful, with finely integrated tannins, warm spice and a long-lasting, slightly balsamic finish.
A perfect accompaniment to braised dishes, roast beef, game, lamb, mature pecorino or pasta with truffle or mushroom sauces. Also an ideal accompaniment to a rustic dinner with antipasti and strong cheeses. Decant to bring out the full flavour.
