Description

Founded in Campbeltown in 1828, Springbank Distillery is one of Scotland’s most traditional distilleries and is known for its artisanal approach. This heavily peated single malt was first distilled at the distillery in 1973 as part of an experiment to show that an Islay-style single malt could also be produced on the Scottish mainland.

For this, the barley is dried exclusively over peat fires, which gives the whisky its characteristic, intense smoky flavour. The whisky is produced using a double distillation process, which promotes a particularly rich flavour development. It is then matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which gives it additional depth and complexity. The production of this Heavily Peated Malts shows Springbank’s dedication to tradition and love of experimentation at the same time.
