Description

The Signatory Vintage Old Pulteney 16 Years Old 2008 Cask Strength #12 is an exceptional single cask bottling from the renowned Cask Strength Collection of the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. This exclusive bottling comes from the Pulteney Distillery, one of the most northerly distilleries on the Scottish mainland, known for its maritime, full-bodied Highland whiskies.

Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2024, this single malt matured for a full 16 years in a 1st fill Oloroso sherry butt – a maturation that gives the whisky an intense colour, depth and complex aromas. It was bottled at natural cask strength at 56.4% vol., naturally not chill-filtered and without colouring agents to preserve all the authenticity and strength of this special whisky.

The combination of Pulteney’s characteristically spicy, slightly salty house style and the rich, fruity and spicy sherry influences from the first-fill Oloroso butt makes for an intense, full-bodied flavour experience – ideal for lovers of rare, strong Highland malts. Packaged in the typical Signatory tin box, this limited bottling is suitable both as a collector’s item and as a sophisticated gift.

Tasting NoteColour: Dark mahogany.

Nose: Deep sherry notes with sultanas, figs, dark chocolate, tobacco and nutty flavours.

Flavour: Powerful and full-bodied with notes of dried fruit, espresso, leather, oak spice, caramel and pepper.

Finish: Long-lasting, intense, with a warming sherry influence, spices and maritime freshness.

This single cask whisky unfolds its full depth pure at room temperature or with a few drops of water to gently open up the complex flavours.

It harmonises perfectly with strong cheese, dark chocolate, nuts or spicy game dishes. As a digestif, it is a real highlight and offers an intense pleasure experience for experienced whisky lovers. This Pulteney also reveals its full potential with a cigar or in a quiet tasting situation.
