The Rest & Be Thankful Finglassie 5 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 2017 is an expressive and limited bottling from Scotland that will delight connoisseurs of high-quality small batch whiskies. Produced at the Finglassie Distillery, part of the Loch Lomond Group, this whisky combines modern distilling tradition with experimental cask maturation. Distillation took place in January 2017 and bottling in September 2022 – the whisky matured for a total of five years, developing an exciting flavour profile.
The single malt is first matured in ex-islay whisky casks, which gives it a subtle, smoky undertone with maritime notes. The subsequent finish in Oloroso sherry butts gives it additional depth, flavour and a delicately fruity sweetness. This combination creates an interesting balance of salty freshness, oak spice and dark fruit flavours. It is bottled unfiltered and without colouring to preserve the authentic quality of this small batch single malt whisky.
With an alcohol content of 46% vol., Finglassie 5 Years Old is pleasantly strong and complex. The edition is limited to just 4,998 bottles worldwide – a collector’s item with real character. Thanks to its maturation in ex-islay casks and the finish in Oloroso sherry butts, it harmonises perfectly with smoked meat, mature blue cheese or wild ragout with a fruity sauce. Sweet accompaniments such as dark chocolate, almond biscuits or a date and walnut dessert also bring out its complex flavours wonderfully.
