£14.47
The Polz Morillon Südsteiermark DAC 2024 12.5% vol. 0.75 l is a brilliant representative of Styrian white wine culture and impressively demonstrates the high level that the Morillon grape variety (regional name for Chardonnay) can achieve in southern Styria. Grown on a variety of soils – shell limestone, clay, sand, limestone marl and slate – this wine has a pronounced minerality and terroir-emphasised finesse. The wine is matured in steel tanks, which optimally preserves its freshness, clarity and varietal character.
The 2024 vintage is multi-faceted, youthful and full of vibrancy. Its harmonious acidity structure is complemented by fine stone fruit flavours that are typical of the region. With its clear structure, animating style and versatility, this Morillon offers an authentic flavour experience that will delight connoisseurs and curious connoisseurs alike. Thanks to its screw cap, it is also practical and uncomplicated – perfect for modern wine enjoyment. It can be drunk until at least 2026, which means it can also be stored for several years.
Tasting NoteThe Polz Morillon Südsteiermark DAC 2024 has a sparkling, light green-yellow colour in the glass. On the nose, it develops calm, fine aromas of apricot, white peach and a hint of pomelo, accompanied by delicate almond notes and a stony minerality. On the palate, it impresses with a superbly integrated, lively acidity structure, fine salinity and clear fruitiness. Notes of apricot and white peach are reflected, complemented by pithy substance and an animating freshness. A youthful, multi-faceted Morillon – elegant and expressive at the same time.
Acidity: 5.8 g/l
Residual sugar: 1.8 g/l
This Morillon from southern Styria is a versatile food companion. It is an excellent accompaniment to a classic Styrian snack, pasta dishes, minced meat or light meat dishes. It is particularly exciting in combination with caramelised sheep’s cheese on beetroot carpaccio with honey walnuts and cress, where its freshness and minerality perfectly balance the flavours. Served at 8-10 °C, it brings out the best in its complexity and is suitable for enjoyable everyday moments as well as for special occasions.
