Description
Plymouth Original Strength Dry Gin is a premium, traditional gin that has been produced at the famous Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth, England, since 1793. This distillery is the oldest continuously operating gin distillery in Langs and has a long history of producing premium gins. With an alcohol content of 41.2 % vol. and a smooth, perfectly balanced blend of botanicals, this gin offers a softer and slightly earthier flavour profile than classic London Dry Gins.
Its unique recipe is based on just seven hand-picked botanicals, including juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orange peel, lemon peel and orris root. This combination gives Plymouth Gin a slightly sweet, fruity flavour with spicy and earthy undertones. Its particularly smooth character makes it ideal for classic cocktails as well as for pure enjoyment. Plymouth Gin was historically closely associated with the British Royal Navy and was long regarded as the officers’ favourite gin.
Tasting NoteColour: Crystal clear.
Nose: Juniper-accentuated with fine citrus notes, earthy spices and a light sweetness.
Flavour: Soft and balanced with fresh citrus fruits, gentle juniper notes, spicy cardamom and a subtle sweetness.
Finish: Pleasantly dry, slightly spicy and long-lasting.
Plymouth Original Strength Dry Gin is an excellent choice for classic gin cocktails such as Gin & Tonic, Martini or Negroni. It harmonises particularly well with Mediterranean tonic water and a garnish of lemon zest or a sprig of rosemary. Its gentle flavour and light sweetness go perfectly with seafood, oysters or fresh antipasti. It also unfolds its multi-layered flavour as an accompaniment to hearty cheese variations or fine chocolate creations.
