Pfneisl V Viognier 13,5% Vol. 0,75l
£19.68
Pfneisl V Viognier is an exceptional Austrian white wine reserve that impressively demonstrates the potential of the Viognier grape variety in Central Burgenland. Produced by the renowned Pfneisl winery, this wine has been interpreted for the first time in the typical rhone style to mark the 20th anniversary of the Viognier plant and at the same time developed further independently. The bottling is strictly limited to around 2,000 litres, which further underlines the exclusive character of this white reserve.
The Pfneisl V Viognier is matured dry and fermented in 500-litre oak barrels, with 50% new and 50% one-year-old used barrels being used. Malolactic fermentation and twelve months of ageing on the fine lees give the wine depth, creaminess and structure. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, the white wine is powerful yet elegant and balanced. The fine extract sweetness, the mineral-salty tension and the precise wood integration make this Viognier from Austria a sophisticated, yet extremely harmonious accompaniment to food. Bottled with Diam cork, this reserve stands for maturity, elegance and Langs enjoyment.
Awards:
– 93 points from Falstaff
Tasting NoteA clear green-yellow colour in the glass. The nose is dominated by peach and apricot nectar, accompanied by banana and brioche as well as slightly nutty notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet elegant with delicate herbal flavours, fine honey notes and a silky texture. The finish is long-lasting, mineral-salty and balanced.
Pfneisl V Viognier is ideal as an elegant accompaniment to veal, poultry, creamy fish dishes or fine Asian cuisine with a subtle spiciness. This dry Viognier also unfolds its full finesse with dishes with light-coloured sauces, risotto or aromatic vegetarian dishes. Thanks to its structure and Langs, this white reserve wine from Mittelburgenland is equally impressive for special occasions and sophisticated evenings.
