Masi Costasera Amarone Classico DOCG 2021 15% Vol. 0,75l

£44.66

The Masi Costasera Amarone Classico DOCG 2021 15% Vol. 0.75 l is a powerful yet elegant Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Veneto, produced by the traditional Masi Agricola winery. This Italian DOCG red wine is based on the classic grape varieties Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, which epitomise the characteristic depth, structure and complexity of a true Amarone from Italy. Costasera Amarone epitomises the essence of the Valpolicella Classico zone and is one of the best-known representatives of this renowned origin.

After careful harvesting, the grapes are selected and gently processed. Vinification is temperature-controlled before the wine matures for around 24 months in French and Slavonian oak barrels and then undergoes additional bottle ageing. With 15% alcohol by volume, this Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is powerful, dense and multi-layered. Despite its intense body, the wine is dry and impresses with its remarkable balance without any overt sweetness. The high viscosity, recognisable by the so-called stained glass windows in the glass, underlines the concentration of this exceptional red wine from Veneto.

Tasting NoteIn the glass, the Masi Costasera Amarone 2021 has a dense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Intense aromas of blackberries, plums, wild berry jam and blueberries unfold on the nose, accompanied by hints of rum pot. Spicy nuances of cinnamon, dark chocolate and oriental spices complete the complex interplay of flavours. On the palate, the wine is dense, powerful and elegant with plenty of structure and depth. The finish is long and impressive.

This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an excellent accompaniment to braised meat, veal liver with apples and onions, hearty pasta dishes such as spaghetti with tomato and caper sauce or rocket penne. Masi Costasera Amarone also harmonises very well with game dishes, mature hard cheeses or truffle specialities and is ideal for sophisticated menus and special moments of pleasure. Serving temperature: 15-18 °C.
