Description
Masahiro OKINAWA Gin The Japanese Craft Gin Recipe 01, with an alcohol content of 47% vol. in a 0.7-litre bottle, is a unique Japanese craft gin that combines the traditional distilling skills of the Masahiro Distillery with the exotic flavours of Okinawa. Masahiro Distillery, founded in 1883, is one of the oldest distilleries in Okinawa and is best known for its masterful production of Awamori, a traditional Japanese spirit. This experience in the art of distillation is reflected in the production of this exceptional gin, which is refined with regional botanicals.
What makes this gin special is the use of local ingredients from Okinawa, which give it a distinctive, fruity and floral flavour. In addition to classic juniper, Goya (bitter melon), Roselle (hibiscus), dried shikwasa (Japanese citrus fruit), pepper and cinnamon leaves are used as botanicals. This combination creates a refreshing, complex and harmonious flavour that combines Japanese elegance with tropical lightness.
Awards and honours:
– BRONZE World Gin Award 2020
– SILVER Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition 2019

Nose: Fruity and fresh with intense notes of citrus fruits, especially shikwasa, accompanied by floral hibiscus flavours and a hint of spicy pepper.

Masahiro OKINAWA Gin Recipe 01 is perfect for classic and innovative gin cocktails. It comes into its own particularly well in a gin & tonic with Japanese yuzu or elderflower tonic water, garnished with a slice of lemon or shikwasa zest. It also unfolds its complex flavour profile excellently in a Negroni, Martini or a gin sour. Enjoyed neat or on ice, it offers an excellent opportunity to discover the subtle nuances of Okinawa botanicals.
