The Mars Shinshu Distillery, founded in 1985 in the Japanese Alps of Nagano, is Japan’s highest whisky distillery. At an altitude of 798 metres, it benefits from a cool climate and pure spring water from Mount Komagatake – ideal conditions for whisky production. After reopening in 2011, the distillery gained international recognition and is now regarded as a flagship for excellent Japanese whisky.
Mars Komagatake Austrian Exclusive Shinshu Aging Whisky is a limited edition of only 179 bottles, which matured for around 4 years in first-fill bourbon casks. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2022, this single malt develops a remarkable depth and complexity due to its cask ageing. With the cask number 3618, this extremely limited bottling from Mars Komagatake is a special collector’s item for lovers of high-quality single malts.
