Marchesi Antinori Tignanello IGT 2022 14% Vol. 0,75l
£166.46
The Tignanello 2022 from Marchesi Antinori is one of Italy’s most important wines – an iconic Super Tuscan that has been considered a style-defining milestone of modern Italian viticulture since the 1970s. It comes from the renowned Tenuta Tignanello, which is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, and was the first wine in the region to be aged in barriques with French grape varieties – a revolution that continues to set standards worldwide to this day.
The cuvée of the 2022 vintage consists of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes come exclusively from the single vineyard of the same name, “Tignanello”, which lies on calcareous soils with Albarese and Galestro rock – ideal conditions for dense, structured and storable wines. The wine is matured for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian barriques before final blending and further ageing in the bottle. With 14.5% alcohol by volume, a natural cork stopper and ageing potential well beyond 2040, Tignanello 2022 is one of Italy’s most sought-after top wines.
Tasting NoteThe Tignanello 2022 has a deep, dark ruby red colour with garnet reflections in the glass. The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe black cherries, plums and dark berries, accompanied by cedar wood, liquorice, fine tobacco, cocoa and subtle vanilla from the barrique. On the palate, the wine is dense and multi-layered, with powerful but silky tannins, a precise acid structure and a balanced, long finish with mineral freshness and spicy nuances. A wine of depth, elegance and impressive longevity.
The Tignanello 2022 is an excellent accompaniment to fine meat dishes, such as rack of lamb with a herb crust, braised beef, venison with rosemary, but also to mature pecorino, truffle dishes or pasta with game ragout. Ideal for festive occasions, gatherings and special moments. Serve at 16-18 °C, preferably decant 1-2 hours in advance.
