The MacDonald’s Ben Nevis Coire Leis Highland Single Malt is a powerful yet balanced bottling from the traditional Ben Nevis Distillery at the foot of Scotland’s highest mountain. With an alcohol content of 46% vol. and bottled in the classic 0.7 litre bottle including gift box (UK), this whisky stands for authenticity, origin and character. The name “Coire Leis” refers to a mountain lake near the distillery from which the spring water for production comes – a clear sign of the regional connection of this Highland bottling.
The whisky is matured in carefully selected American oak casks and offers a full-bodied flavour profile with a successful combination of fruitiness, spice and a delicate oak structure. Bottled without chill-filtration and with a natural colour, the Coire Leis is aimed at lovers of honest, unoaked single malts with good body and depth. It is a characterful introduction to the world of Ben Nevis, one of the oldest distilleries in the Highlands with a history dating back to 1825.
Tasting NoteColour: Gold with amber reflections.
Nose: Malt, honey, roasted nuts, ripe pear and a hint of vanilla.
Flavour: Full and round with toffee, spices, caramel, dried fruit and light oak.
Finish: Medium length, warming and slightly dry with spice and honey sweetness.
Can be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water. Goes wonderfully with hazelnut desserts, light-coloured caramel creams or even a strong cheddar. Also ideal as an accompanying dram for a relaxed evening or for whisky tastings.
