Lustau SAN EMILIO PX Pedro Ximénez 17% Vol. 0,75l
£26.49
Lustau San Emilio PX Pedro Ximénez is a noble sweet sherry from the Andalusian city of Jerez de la Frontera and is made from the traditional Pedro Ximénez grape variety. These grapes are dried under the hot Spanish sun after harvesting, which allows them to develop a high natural sugar content – the basis for the particularly concentrated, syrupy character of this sherry. The wine is matured using the traditional Solera system, which gives the wine depth, complexity and an impressive density of flavours.
With an alcohol content of 17% vol., Lustau Emilio San Emilio offers an opulent yet harmonious enjoyment experience. It has a storage potential of around one year after opening, provided the bottle is kept in a cool, dark place. This Pedro Ximénez is ideal for drinking in small quantities and is an excellent choice for lovers of full-bodied, sweet wines with depth.
Awards:
– GOLD International Wine & Spirit Competition 2017
– GOLD International Wine & Spirit Competition 2015
Tasting NoteLustau Emilio San Emilio PX has a deep mahogany brown colour with oily streaks in the glass. The nose is dominated by intense aromas of sultanas, dried figs, dates and caramel, accompanied by hints of cocoa and mocha. On the palate, it is velvety, dense and very sweet, with a creamy texture and a long finish. Flavours of dark dried fruit, chocolate and spices characterise the overall taste and leave a powerful, lasting impression.
Acidity: 5.5 g/l
Residual sugar: Less than 1 g/l
Serving temperature: 10-12 °C
This Pedro Ximénez is ideal as a dessert wine – served on its own or slightly chilled with strong blue cheeses such as Roquefort or Gorgonzola. It also unfolds its full aromatic potential with chocolate desserts, caramelised nuts or vanilla ice cream. It can also be used as an aromatic ingredient in fine sauces or to refine desserts.
