Description
Lochlea Distillery is an independent single malt distillery located on Lochlea Farm in Ayrshire, near Glasgow in the Scottish Lowlands. The distillery opened for business in August 2018. John Campbell, the former manager of Laphroaig Distillery, runs this family business.
The distillery attaches great importance to the quality of its ingredients. The barley used to produce the single malt whisky is grown in the company’s own fields and harvested by hand. The water comes from limestone springs below the distillery, which enables full traceability of the raw materials.
This whisky creation is a tribute to autumn and the moment when the farmland comes to rest after the harvest. The whisky has been matured in a blend of Oloroso (45%) and Pedro Ximénez Sherry (55%) casks. This combination gives the whisky sweet and spicy notes.
Bottling is carried out without chill-filtration and without the addition of colouring agents in order to preserve the natural purity and colour of the whisky. This emphasises the Lochlea Distillery’s philosophy of authenticity and naturalness.
The distillery recommends enjoying and sipping this whisky in comfort, especially as the dark, autumn nights approach.
