Lillet Rouge 17% Vol. 0,75l

£17.23

Lillet Rouge is a full-bodied, aromatically intense aperitif wine from the south-west of France, more precisely from the small town of Podensac near Bordeaux. With an alcohol content of 17% vol., it is the deep red brother of the well-known Lillet Blanc – more powerful in expression, but just as finely balanced and stylish. Lillet Rouge is made from a careful cuvée of red Bordeaux wines – predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon – enriched with fruit macerations of oranges, exotic fruits and selected herbs. A hint of cinchona bark gives the aperitif its subtle bitter flavour.

Maturation takes place over several months in small oak barrels, which gives Lillet Rouge its smooth texture and harmonious combination of fruit, flavour and structure. Lillet has epitomised French aperitif culture for over a century – sensual, elegant and with an unmistakable character.

Tasting NoteThe Lillet Rouge shines in the glass in a deep ruby red colour with purple reflections. Intense aromas of dark berries, candied orange, vanilla and fine spices unfold on the nose. On the palate, it is velvety, fruity and balanced with notes of blackberries, dried figs, cloves and a pleasant bittersweetness. The finish is round, long and aromatic.

Lillet Rouge is an ideal aperitif for stylish evenings. It can be served neat on ice with an orange zest, as a long drink with tonic, ginger ale or bitter lemon or in cocktails such as the “Red Vesper” or “Lillet Rouge Negroni”. In culinary terms, it harmonises wonderfully with red meat, patés, hard cheese or fruity desserts with chocolate. A versatile aperitif that also delights connoisseurs with its depth and balance.
