Description

The Ledaig 9 Years Old Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Strength Limited Release 2012 in a 0.7 litre bottle including gift box is a limited bottling for lovers of powerful and exceptionally matured single malts. Distilled in 2012 at the Tobermory Distillery on the Scottish island of Mull, this whisky is a heavily smoky Ledaig that is given a unique depth and variety of flavours thanks to its maturation in former Bordeaux red wine casks.

The combination of maritime smokiness and the fruity, spicy influences of the Bordeaux casks creates an expressive cask-strength single malt Scotch whisky that has been bottled without chill filtration and without colouring – thus fully preserving the authentic character of the whisky. The high alcohol content of 56.8 % vol. ensures intensity and offers connoisseurs the opportunity to open and develop the whisky individually with a few drops of water.

The limited edition makes this whisky particularly interesting not only in terms of flavour, but also as a collector’s item. Typical of Ledaig, it is characterised by strong peat smoke, mineral notes and an exciting wine cask sweetness – a real highlight for fans of characterful bottlings.

Tasting NoteColour: Deep copper red with wine-red reflections.

Nose: Intensely smoky with notes of dark berries, smoked wood, leather and red wine.

Flavour: Full-bodied, strong and complex with peat, red fruits, oak, dark chocolate and a hint of sea salt.

Finish: Langs, warm and smoky with fruity depth and fine spice.

The Ledaig 9 Years Bordeaux Cask Strength is ideal for pure enjoyment – preferably with a few drops of water to develop the complex flavours. A whisky for experienced connoisseurs who appreciate powerful, smoky bottlings with a special cask finish.
