The LAGG Single Malt Scotch Whisky CORRIECRAVIE Edition 55% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is a single malt bottling with a strong character from the Isle of Arran and comes from the young but already renowned Lagg Distillery. This special Lagg Corriecravie Edition is only released once a year in limited quantities and is one of the distillery’s distinctive bottlings. The whisky is made from Concerto barley malt and pure water from the distillery’s own borehole, resulting in an authentic island whisky from Scotland. The style of Lagg single malt whisky is characterised by a combination of smoky peat notes, fruity nuances and spicy depth, reflecting the distinctive island character.
The maturation of this single malt Scotch whisky from the islands begins in American oak bourbon casks before the whisky is matured for around six months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads. These casks come directly from Bodega Miguel Martin in Jerez, Spain, and give the whisky additional depth as well as complex fruity and spicy nuances. The Lagg Corriecravie single malt is bottled at a strong 55% vol. without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring agents, which fully preserves the natural character of the whisky. The edition is named after the hamlet of Corriecravie, located to the north-west of the village of Lagg, which is historically linked to early illegal whisky production on the Isle of Arran. Also nearby is the Torres a’ Chaisteil Dun, an Iron Age fortress known locally as Castle Hill, which lends additional historical significance to the region.
