Description

Juan del Aguila fought alongside Red Hugh O Donnell and The Great Earl during an arduous two-month campaign at the Battle of Kinsale, the final battle in England’s conquest of Gaelic Ireland and the climax of the Nine Years’ War.

During this time he lived in Portney’s Lane, Cork, and was much favoured by the locals, and when he returned to Spain to help wounded troops from his own funds, he died in 1602.

Spanish Earl Single Malt Irish Whiskey is first matured for almost 4 years in ex-bourbon casks and then split into two finishing casks, an ex-Imperial Stout and an aged golden Jamaican rum. The two triple-distilled Irish whiskeys are reunited and bottled after an interval of at least 3 months.

The stout element is inspired by Juan del Aguila’s time in Cork, which has been world-famous for stout production for hundreds of years, while rum, the favourite drink of ancient mariners, adds a sweet toffee note to the dark chocolate of the stout.

Spanish Earl Single Malt Irish Whiskey, triple distilled, triple casked, fearless to the core.
