Description

Kilchoman SANAIG Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a characterful bottling from the independent farm distillery Kilchoman Distillery and represents a sherry-led alternative within the Kilchoman core range. Named after the remote bay of Sanaig on the north-west coast of Islay, this single malt epitomises elegance, depth and a clear maritime island character. The Sanaig is composed of four and five-year-old malts and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, with a deliberately higher proportion of sherry casks than Machir Bay.

This cask selection gives the Kilchoman Sanaig additional structure and darker accents without masking the distillery’s typical oily and smoky house style. Bottled at 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and without colouring, the texture and all flavour-giving oils and esters are fully retained. The Sanaig thus positions itself as a balanced Islay single malt that harmoniously combines smoke, cask sweetness and fruit and appeals to both experienced Islay fans and connoisseurs of sherry-accentuated whiskies. This bottling is delivered in a high-quality gift box that emphasises the product’s high standards.

The Kilchoman SANAIG Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is ideal for pure enjoyment and shows its depth particularly well with a little time in the glass. Thanks to the sherry-accentuated cask structure, this smoky Islay single malt harmonises very well with dark chocolate, desserts with dried fruit or strong hard cheese. As a comparative dram to Machir Bay, the Sanaig also offers an exciting perspective on the Kilchoman house style and impresses with its balance, elegance and lingering finish.
