The Scarabus Sherry Cask Edition is a powerful Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Hunter Laing – an independent bottler with a big name in the world of Scotch whiskies. This special edition was created especially for lovers of smoky whiskies with a sherry influence and impresses with its intense, dark fruity and peaty character. It is matured exclusively in former sherry casks, which adds seductive notes of dried fruit, spices and dark chocolate to the typical Islay smoke.
The name “Scarabus” comes from the Old Norse and means “a rocky place”, which is perfectly suited to the wild coastal landscape of Islay. Behind the striking, mystical bottle design lies a whisky that delights connoisseurs with its depth and expressiveness. At 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and natural, this bottling stays close to its origins and offers an authentic flavour experience.
Tasting NoteColour: Dark amber with a reddish tinge.
Nose: Intensely smoky, accompanied by dried figs, sweet peat smoke, sultanas, leather and a hint of cinnamon.
Flavour: Full-bodied and structured with sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, spicy wood, smoky malt and dried dates.
Finish: Long-lasting, smoky and warm, with notes of coffee, roasted almonds and spicy oak.
