Description
The Hogshead Fine Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 43% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is a characterful, smoky blended malt whisky that is independently bottled by the renowned Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company. For decades, Signatory has stood for uncompromising quality, authentic craftsmanship and the courage to reinterpret whisky beyond great brand aesthetics. With the Hogshead Fine Old Blended Malt, the focus is clearly on the substance and origin of the malts – and less on elaborate marketing. This whisky combines around one third Islay malt with its intense, peaty character and two thirds Highland and Speyside malt, which provide balance, sweetness and depth.
The whisky is named after the traditional “hogshead” cask format, which translates as “pig’s head” – a symbol that also adorns the label. The whisky is bottled in alternating batches, the composition of which always varies slightly, giving each edition its own individual character. The colour of the hogshead is a natural, warm shade of amber – uncoloured and not chill-filtered to preserve the pure, unadulterated taste. A harmonious combination of smoky, maritime notes, spicy oak, vanilla and a hint of dark chocolate unfolds on the palate – a whisky for connoisseurs who appreciate authenticity and depth.
Tasting NoteColour: Golden brown with natural reflections.
Nose: Slightly smoky with vanilla, salty and maritime accents.
Flavour: Strong and complex with wood notes, dark chocolate, espresso and mature smoke.
Finish: Spicy, harmonious and long-lasting with a hint of dark chocolate.
The Hogshead Fine Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is ideal for savouring on its own to fully experience its smoky depth. It goes particularly well with savoury dishes such as smoked salmon, grilled steak or matured cheddar, which emphasise its peaty character. It also shows its elegant, powerful side as an accompaniment to dark chocolate or espresso desserts. In cooler months, it unfolds its character best slightly warmed in a nosing glass – an honest, high-quality blended malt that authentically captures the smoky soul of Scotland.
