Hillinger HILL 3 2024 8% Vol. 0,375l
£39.46
The Hillinger HILL 3 2024 8 % vol. 0.375 l is a noble sweet Trockenbeerenauslese of exceptional intensity, balance and aromatic depth. As the sweet flagship of Burgenland’s flagship winery Leo Hillinger, this wine combines the highest level of craftsmanship, maturity and complexity in a powerful, elegant composition that impressively showcases the potential of Austrian sweet wines.
The grapes for HILL 3 come from selected vineyards and are harvested by hand when they are severely shrivelled and highly concentrated due to noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The long fermentation over 4 to 5 months in stainless steel tanks ensures a gentle development of the full spectrum of flavours. The wine then matures for around 12 months in barrels or tanks, giving it additional complexity, structure and an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity. With an alcohol content of just 8% vol. but intense flavour and opulent concentration, it has a considerable ageing potential of 10 to 20 years.
Tasting NoteThe HILL 3 has an intense golden yellow colour in the glass. The nose is complex and beguiling, with aromas of blossom honey, dried pineapple, ripe apricot, elderflower, banana and mint. On the palate, it presents itself with a dense, charming sweetness, carried by an invigorating, fresh acidity that balances the wine and lends it elegance. Notes of camomile, honey and dried fruit accompany the long, never-ending finish – a prime example of great Trockenbeerenauslese wines with freshness, power and finesse.
Acidity: 7 g/l
Residual sugar: 230.9 g/l
Drinking temperature: 10-12 °C
Serving temperature: 10 °C
HILL 3 is the perfect accompaniment to desserts and cheese variations, especially blue cheese, mushroom camembert, burnt crème, apricot tart or as a sweet counterpoint to a strong espresso. It is also ideal as a meditative soloist or as a highlight at festive occasions.
