Tupac Shakur even dedicated a whole song to the cognac at the time, fittingly calling it “Hennessy.”
Hennessy Cognac has existed since 1765
Hennessy has been around since 1765 and is still family run. The brand was founded by an Irish officer named Richard Hennessy, who immigrated to France at the end of the 18th century. While at first he was only selling cognac, he soon exported the luxury goods overseas. The production was then taken over by his son James Hennessy who also gave the brand its name “Jas Hennessy & Co” in 1813.
