Aging
The Glenrothes Minister’s Reserve already considered its character during aging. It was allowed to mature for the most part in Spanish oak barrels, i.e. former sherry barrels. The classic sherry note presents itself clearly. This can already be seen in the appearance of the reddish amber, which gives this whisky its noble appearance.
Nosing
The elegant character of this bottling is already evident in the aromas. In the aroma the strong spicy nature of the Speyside Scotch comes to the fore. Somewhat resinous and garnished with a sweet-fruity note of citrus fruits, it comes across as a versatile whiskey.
Taste
This impression is also confirmed in the taste. Tropical fruits provide for a certain freshness, which is supplemented by a woody and floral note. Cedar wood, fruit peel and a light rose note can be tasted. The taste experience is refined by a hint of exquisite spices and vanilla, which give the Glenrothes Minister’s Reserve its full and strong character. The sherry note is also recognisable.
Finish
In the finish, the spicy side of the noble whiskey is more present. The cedar wood also persists in the finish and is wonderfully complemented by the sweet vanilla taste.
About Glenrothes
Based in Rothes, Speyside, Scotland, the Glenrothes distillery is known for its wonderful single malt scotches. The distillery has been active since 1879 and has built a reputation for fruity, mild and sweet whiskies. At the same time, the distillery usually dispenses with year dates, so that the age of the Glenrothes Minister’s Reserve is not clear either. The Vintage series is particularly well known, but the Reserve series is also enjoying popularity among whisky connoisseurs.
