Description

The Glen Spey 12 Years Old from the renowned Flora & Fauna series is a rather rare and elegant representative of Speyside single malts. The Glen Spey distillery, founded in Rothes in 1878, is part of the Diageo Group and primarily produces for blends. Only a few original bottlings such as this 12-year-old edition are released, which makes them particularly attractive to collectors and connoisseurs.

The Flora & Fauna series is known for spotlighting lesser-known distilleries with high-quality matured, authentic whiskies. The Glen Spey 12 matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, giving it a fine balance of fruit, sweetness and subtle spice. Bottled at 43% vol., it is pleasantly accessible, yet multi-layered and rich in detail – a typical, but not everyday Speyside malt.

Tasting NoteColour: Golden yellow.

Nose: Elegant and fresh with notes of green apples, vanilla, light flowers and a hint of malt.

Flavour: Soft, fruity and slightly nutty with aromas of pear, honey, sweet cereals and a hint of oak spice.

Finish: Medium-long, mild and dry with fine herbal and woody flavours.

Ideal for drinking on its own or with a few drops of water to open up the fine flavours. Also a lovely accompaniment to mild cheese, buttery pastries or light desserts. For fans of subtle, elegant whiskies, the Glen Spey 12 Years Flora & Fauna is a stylish discovery – authentic, balanced and a piece of whisky history from the heart of Speyside.
