£32.17
The Erwin Sabathi Pinot Gris Ried Jägerberg Südsteiermark DAC 2024 13% Vol. 0.75 l is an elegant and expressive Pinot Gris from the Südsteiermark DAC, which clearly reflects the origin of the renowned Ried Jägerberg. Weingut Erwin Sabathi is one of the leading wineries in the region and stands for precisely vinified Styrian Burgundy wines with a distinct typicity of origin. As a Südsteiermark DAC Riedenwein, this Pinot Gris from Austria combines strength, structure and mineral elegance.
The vines grow on marine sedimentary soils of the Neogene, the so-called Gamlitzer Schlier, which consists of fine sandy clay marls with crystalline and carbonate gravel. These soils give the wine its characteristic minerality and tension. The grapes come from steep vineyards and are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts, after which the wine matures for 15 months in large oak barrels. With 13% alcohol by volume, this Pinot Gris Südsteiermark DAC is structured, complex and long-lasting. It will be bottled in December 2025 and has a storage potential of 10 years or more.
Tasting NoteA bright yellow colour with golden reflections in the glass, the nose reveals complex aromas of ripe fruit, fine spice and mineral notes, on the palate the wine is powerful and multi-layered with precise fruit, dense structure and fine minerality, the finish is elegant and long-lasting.
The Erwin Sabathi Pinot Gris Ried Jägerberg Südsteiermark DAC 2024 is an excellent accompaniment to fish dishes, seafood, poultry, veal or mushroom dishes. This Styrian Pinot Gris also harmonises well with risotto, hearty vegetable dishes and mature hard cheese. Served at 10 to 12 °C, it develops its aromatic depth and structure particularly harmoniously.
