Description

The Douglas Laing Rock Island Sherry Edition Small Batch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited special bottling from the renowned Rock Island series of the independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co. in Glasgow. This special edition combines maritime elegance with the rich sweetness of a sherry finish and was bottled at 46.8% vol. in small batches – naturally not chill-filtered and without colouring to preserve its authentic character.

The Rock Island Sherry Edition is based on a blend of selected single malts from the Scottish islands of Islay, Arran, Jura and An Orkney, all of which are known for their smoky, maritime style. After careful maturation in traditional oak casks, this whisky was given an expressive finish in sherry casks, which gives it additional depth, complexity and fruity sweetness. The interplay of salty sea air, fine smoke and the warm flavours of dried fruit and chocolate make this blended malt an exceptionally harmonious pleasure – powerful, elegant and unmistakably typical of the island.

Tasting NoteColour: Deep amber with reddish-golden reflections.

Nose: Sweet and maritime at the same time with notes of sherry, sultanas, peat smoke, salted caramel and dark chocolate.

Flavour: Full-bodied and complex with aromas of dried fruit, spices, cocoa beans and fine smoke, rounded off with a subtle oak spice.

Finish: Langs, spicy and slightly salty with notes of smoke, caramel and sherry sweetness.

The Rock Island Sherry Edition Small Batch unfolds its depth and balance pure at room temperature or with a drop of water in a nosing glass. It harmonises perfectly with smoked salmon, hard cheese, dark chocolate or desserts with caramel and nuts, which emphasise its sweet and spicy notes. It is also the perfect accompaniment to a mild cigar. The elegant gift box makes it an ideal present for lovers of Scottish island whiskies – a small batch blended malt that impressively combines maritime freshness and sherry sweetness.
