Description

The Douglas Laing Old Particular Girvan 16 Years Old 2008 is an exclusive single grain bottling from Douglas Laing’s renowned Old Particular series, which is characterised by exceptional single cask bottlings. Produced at the Girvan Distillery, one of Scotland’s best-known grain distilleries, this whisky has been matured for a remarkable 16 years and bottled at 48.4% vol.

This single grain whisky matured in a carefully selected refill hogshead cask, which gives it a perfect balance of sweet, fruity and spicy notes. The long maturation gives it an elegant smoothness, while the natural grain notes and cask influences offer harmonious depth and complexity.

Like all bottlings in the Old Particular series, this whisky has not been chill-filtered and has been bottled without colouring to preserve its natural authenticity and full range of flavours.

Tasting NoteColour: Light gold with amber reflections.

Nose: Sweet vanilla, butter biscuit, ripe fruit and fine caramel notes, accompanied by a light spiciness.

Flavour: Soft and velvety with notes of creamy toffee, honey, buttery shortbread and a subtle oak note.

Finish: Medium to long, sweet and harmonious with a pleasant cereal note and gentle spicy nuances.

This 16-year-old single grain whisky is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to emphasise its depth and complexity. It harmonises perfectly with dark chocolate, caramelised nuts, butter biscuits or a fine cigar. It also shows all its elegance as an accompaniment to a café crème or a dessert with vanilla and caramel.
