Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen 2024 13% Vol. 0,75l
£20.72
Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen 2024 is an expressive, multi-layered white wine from the Wachau that embodies the characteristics of this unique wine region at the highest level. Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner, it displays impressive depth, elegance and structure. The grapes come from the steep terraced vineyards along the Danube, where they thrive on barren primary rock and loess soils. This combination of soil characteristics and the Pannonian climate with warm days and cool nights creates ideal conditions for the finest flavours, pronounced minerality and freshness.
The late harvested grapes are carefully selected so that only fully ripe, healthy grapes are processed. Dry ageing in stainless steel tanks and prolonged storage on the fine lees give the wine its dense structure and elegant texture. The result is a Grüner Veltliner Smaragd that impresses with its aromatic complexity, ripe fruit and mineral finish – a prime example of Domäne Wachau’s style and a wine with exceptional ageing potential.
Tasting NoteIn the glass, the wine presents itself in a light, bright straw yellow colour with delicate green reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe yellow fruit, fine notes of white pepper, some meadow herbs and a subtle mineral spiciness. On the palate, it is concentrated, powerful and yet elegant, carried by a harmonious, lively acidity. The texture is creamy and precise at the same time, characterised by the late harvest and dry ageing. The finish is long, savoury and mineral with a fine mellowness and impressive depth.
Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen 2024 is a versatile accompaniment to classic Austrian dishes such as fried chicken, roast veal or Wiener schnitzel, as well as fish, seafood, poultry and Asian-flavoured dishes. Served at 10-12 °C in a Burgundy or universal glass, it unfolds its full flavour and structure. The wine will be ready to drink between 2024 and 2030, whereby it impresses with its freshness when young and gains complexity and depth as it matures.
