The Deanston Virgin Oak Highland Single Malt Cask Strength Batch No. 1 Edition 2023 is a limited bottling from the renowned Deanston Distillery, which is known for its natural, unpeated Highland whiskies. This special cask strength edition stands out with its intense variety of flavours and authentic cask strength of 58.5% vol.
Maturation begins in traditional bourbon casks before the whisky is refined for a further 9 to 12 months in first-class American virgin oak casks. These fresh oak casks give it exceptional depth, intense wood notes and a creamy sweetness that harmonises perfectly with the malty and spicy elements. The whisky is bottled without chill-filtration and without the addition of colouring, so that it can be enjoyed in its purest form.
Tasting NoteColour: Golden amber.
Nose: Intense and complex with notes of vanilla, sweet honey, spicy oak and a hint of cinnamon.
Taste: Strong and full-bodied with flavours of caramel, roasted nuts, spicy spices and creamy malt.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm and spicy with a combination of sweet vanilla and strong woody notes.
The Deanston Virgin Oak Cask Strength is ideal for pure enjoyment, preferably with a few drops of water to allow the flavours to develop optimally. It harmonises particularly well with dark chocolate, roasted almonds or a spicy steak. Alternatively, it can add exceptional depth and complexity to strong whisky cocktails such as a Whisky Old Fashioned or a Rob Roy.
