Description
Dalwhinnie The Distillers Edition Double Matured is a refined version of the classic Dalwhinnie single malt and comes from the high-altitude Dalwhinnie Distillery, which is located in the middle of the Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands. The name “Dalwhinnie” is derived from the Gaelic “Dail-coinneeamh”, which means “meeting place” – a reference to the historical importance of the region as a hub for travellers.
This special Distillers Edition undergoes double maturation (double matured), whereby the whisky is first aged in classic oak casks and then finished in Oloroso Seasoned American Oak Casks. This additional maturation gives it a deeper, sweeter and more complex flavour, characterised by nutty, fruity and spicy notes. With an alcohol content of 43% vol., it remains smooth and elegant while retaining the light smokiness typical of Dalwhinnie.
Awards:
– GOLD in 2018 at the International Wine & Spirit Competition

– SILVER in 2009- 2011 at the International Spirits Challenge
Tasting NoteColour: Bright gold with amber reflections.
Nose: Gentle malty sweetness, accompanied by honey, dried fruit and a fine sherry spice.

Dalwhinnie The Distillers Edition Double Matured is ideal as a digestif or for pure enjoyment at room temperature. It harmonises wonderfully with dark chocolate, roasted almonds or mature cheese. Alternatively, it can be used as a fine base for a whisky sour with a sherry twist or an upmarket Rob Roy to show off its complex flavours in style.
