Tullamore D.E.W. Original is the classic among the Irish whiskeys. With its soft and complex aroma it is one of the most popular and most characterful Irish whiskey in the world. It has been distilled in the heart of Ireland, in Offaly County, since 1829. The blend consists of the three whiskey types: grain, malt and pot still. The whisky is distilled three times and it ages in three barrels: traditional Irish whiskey refill barrels, bourbon and sherry barrels. In Germany, Tullamore D.E.W. is distributed by Campari Germany.
The old Irish tradition of pairing beer and whiskey is now upgraded with this set: for ”D.E.W. & A Brew” the three German breweries Ratsherrn, BRLO and Gaffel have developed three individual craft beers that perfectly match the original Irish whiskey.

Ratsherrn presents their beer „Flying Squirrel“ as the perfect partner for Tullamore D.E.W. The Nut Brown Ale shows a character with notes of nuts and caramel which underline the aroma of wood and vanilla in the Tullamore D.E.W. The taste of the beer is rounded off with British hops that give it a fresh note.
The result at Gaffel is called „Kölner Braukessel“ and is a Pale Ale inspired by a Kölsch with slightly fruity notes. The two US-American hops Citra and Amarillo were combined for this beer which give it a fruity character with almost no bitter notes. The honey notes and the sweetness in the Tullamore D.E.W. harmonise well with this new beer created by Gaffel.
BRLO from Berlin created a Redlight Ale which is fruitier and more concentrated on the hops than traditional Red Ales while still showing that signature colour and bitterness. US-American Amarillo and German Polaris hops were used to create this special beer. Thanks to the malty notes, the bitterness in this pairing comes more from the beer, letting the whiskey show its fruity character.
