Description
The Craigellachie 13 Years Old Speyside Single Malt 46% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is a distinctive whisky from the renowned Craigellachie Distillery, which has been known for its characterful malts in the Speyside region of Scotland since 1891. Unlike many other Speyside distilleries, Craigellachie deliberately favours a strong, slightly sulphurous and oily-spicy style, which makes it unmistakable and has earned it the reputation of a “Speyside rebel”.
This 13-year-old single malt matured in a combination of American oak casks and ex-bourbon casks, giving it a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and wood. Bottled at 46% vol., uncoloured and non-chill-filtered, it shows itself in its natural form and perfectly expresses the authentic signature of the distillery.
The elegant gift box (GB) emphasises the premium character of this bottling and makes the Craigellachie 13 Years Old interesting for both collectors and lovers of strong Speyside malts.
Tasting NoteColour: Gold with amber reflections.
Nose: Aromas of fresh apples, tropical fruits, malt, plus slightly smoky and spicy notes.
Flavour: Strong and complex, with toffee, honey, spicy oak, dried fruit and a hint of sulphur smoke.
Finish: Langs, spicy and intense, with a balance of sweetness, oak and malty character.
The Craigellachie 13 Years Old unfolds its strength pure in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water to release additional flavours. It harmonises perfectly with strong dishes such as grilled meat or spicy cheeses. It is also suitable as an accompaniment to dark chocolate or a strong cigar. With its expressive style, it is a whisky for connoisseurs who are looking for a special single malt away from the typical Speyside profile.
