Description
The Bunnahabhain 18 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46.3% is one of the most important bottlings from the traditional distillery on the remote north-east coast of Islay. This whisky is matured over a period of 18 years in selected sherry casks, which gives it its deep dark mahogany-coloured appearance. The distillery is known for its unpeated style, which clearly sets it apart from many other Islay producers, as well as the maritime influence created by the direct storage on the coast. The official producer information describes the character of this whisky as rich and warming, characterised by dried fruit, sherry, toffee, spicy notes, honeyed nuttiness and a subtle hint of sea salt due to its seaside location.
Bunnahabhain uses a particularly slow distillation process in production to create an intense and multi-layered flavour structure. The absence of chill filtration preserves the natural structure of the whisky as well as its rich colour. The long maturation period near the coast creates an Islay single malt that impresses with its balance, depth and long-lasting, complex cask flavours. The whisky is bottled in a high-quality gift box, making it a stylish choice for lovers of classic sherry cask maturation.

This whisky is an excellent accompaniment to mature hard cheese, intense dark chocolate or nutty desserts, as these dishes ideally pick up on its warm, multi-layered flavour. It also harmonises with strong meat dishes such as braised beef or game, whose deep aromas are elegantly accompanied by the sherry-accentuated barrel ageing. As a soloist, it reveals its full complexity in quiet moments, for example in front of the fire in the evening or in combination with a fine cigar. It is also ideal as an expressive digestif after a festive meal, as its long-lasting structure rounds off the culinary finale.
