Description

The Ardgowan Clydebuilt DRAUGHTSMAN is a high-quality blended malt Scotch whisky that impressively reflects the craftsmanship and cask expertise of the young, ambitious Ardgowan Distillery. As part of the limited edition Clydebuilt Collection, this bottling symbolises planning, precision and character – in the spirit of the shipbuilders (“draughtsmen”), which have been inspiringly realised in the glass.

Selected single malts from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay were blended together for the Clydebuilt DRAUGHTSMAN. The final maturation took place in first-fill oloroso sherry butts, which give the whisky a particularly elegant depth and complexity. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., bottled without chill filtration and without colouring, this bottling offers an authentic, multi-layered taste experience. The elegant gift packaging emphasises the value of this limited edition.

As a blended malt whisky with a sherry cask finish, DRAUGHTSMAN harmoniously combines fruit, spice and subtle smoky notes – a stylish expression of modern whisky art with depth and balance.

Tasting NoteColour: Deep amber with a reddish tinge.

Nose: Complex aromas of sultanas, dried cherries and sherry sweetness, plus dark chocolate, cinnamon, leather and a hint of campfire smoke.

Flavour: Full-bodied and round with notes of dried fruit, roasted almonds, sweet oak, a fine spicy nuance and a subtle veil of smoke.

Finish: Medium to long, pleasantly spicy with ripe fruit notes, toffee and elegant sherry cask warmth.

The Clydebuilt DRAUGHTSMAN blended malt is an excellent accompaniment to dark meat, such as braised leg of lamb, game or spicy BBQ dishes. Its aromatic depth also comes into its own in combination with hard, matured cheese, smoked bacon or dark chocolate with orange zest. Ideal as a stylish after-dinner whisky, which also reveals its complex cask structure on its own in a nosing glass. Perfect for connoisseurs who appreciate sherry cask maturation with depth and character.
