With an alcohol content of 46% vol. and a unique cask maturation, this single malt combines the maritime character of Islay with the fine, nutty and slightly floral flavours of the famous Spanish sherry.
Ardbeg stands for centuries of tradition: whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before the distillery was officially founded by John McDougall in 1815. The name “Ardbeg” comes from the Gaelic for “little hill”, which refers to the distillery’s geographical location on the south coast of Islay – a region known for its heavily peated, maritime-influenced whiskies.
Maturation in Manzanilla sherry casks gives this Ardbeg an exceptional elegance and a fine balance between smoke, sea salt and nutty sweetness. An exciting combination that sets it apart from other bottlings and offers a special flavour experience.
