Description
The Ardbeg Smoketrails The Côte Rôtie Edition is an exclusive limited edition that combines Ardbeg’s legendary peat smokiness with the elegant influences of the French wine world. With an alcohol content of 46% vol. and a unique maturation in Côte Rôtie wine casks from the Rhône Valley, this single malt unfolds a fascinating combination of smoky intensity and fruity elegance.
Ardbeg can look back on a long tradition: whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before the distillery was officially founded by John McDougall in 1815. The name “Ardbeg” comes from the Gaelic and means “little hill” – a reference to its location on the south coast of Islay, a region known for its heavily peated and maritime-influenced whiskies.
The Côte Rôtie wine casks give this Ardbeg a refined depth and a fruity dimension that harmonises perfectly with the characteristic peat smoke. The interplay of sweet, spicy and smoky notes makes it an exceptional pleasure experience.
Tasting NoteColour: Golden amber reflections.
Nose: Intense peat smoke notes meet dark berries, red fruits and subtle oak spice.
Flavour: Full-bodied and complex with strong smoke, dark cherries, spices and a subtle wine note.
Finish: Langs and smoky with a harmonious balance of wood, spice and fruity depth.
The Ardbeg Smoketrails The Côte Rôtie Edition is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water. It is an excellent culinary accompaniment to grilled lamb, matured hard cheese, dark chocolate with berry flavours or a smoky BBQ dish.
