Description
The Ardbeg Heavy Vapours is an exceptional special bottling from the renowned Islay distillery Ardbeg. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., this single malt shows a new, daring side of the distillery. The special feature of this edition is the absence of the traditional purifier in the distillation – a process that normally softens the heavier flavours in the distillate. Without this purifier, particularly strong, dense and intense flavours are created, making this whisky even smokier and spicier than usual.
Ardbeg stands for centuries of tradition: whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before John McDougall officially founded the distillery in 1815. The name “Ardbeg” comes from the Gaelic and means “little hill” – fitting for its location on the south coast of the legendary whisky region of Islay, which is known for its heavily peated and maritime-influenced whiskies.
With the Heavy Vapours, Ardbeg is bringing an even more intense interpretation of its typical style to the market. The deliberately modified distillation creates a particularly powerful character that emphasises the darker, heavier flavours. A whisky for true Ardbeg fans and lovers of strongly smoky Islay whiskies.

Taste: Intense and full-bodied with strong peat smoke, black pepper, liquorice and a fine sweetness of vanilla and caramel.
Finish: Langs and spicy with lingering smoke, maritime notes and a subtle bitterness.
The Ardbeg Heavy Vapours unfolds its full flavour neat or with a few drops of water. It harmonises perfectly with grilled meat, BBQ ribs, spicy hard cheese or dark chocolate with a high cocoa content.
