Aikan Whisky Intense Rhum Barrels 40% Vol. 0,7l
£49.87
Description
The Aikan brand has set itself the goal of combining two continents, Europe and America, as well as two different climate zones, the continental and the tropical, while at the same time harmoniously uniting two worlds of spirits, whisky and rum. Symbolically, the word “Aikan”, which means “marriage” in the language of the indigenous people of Martinique, the Arawak, embodies precisely this claim.
The whisky initially spends three years in Scotland, where it matures in a cool, temperate climate. It is then transferred to the island of Martinique in the Caribbean for a further year, where it is matured in a former rum barrel from the French Antilles. This two-stage maturation in two completely different climate zones promotes a complex interplay of flavours and results in a rich, multi-layered flavour profile.
This transcontinental maturation, which utilises the differences in temperature and environment, creates a whisky that captures the essence of both worlds and unites them in a harmonious yet complex product.
