19 Crimes Behind Bars Red Wine 12.5% ABV 0.75l

£9.14

The 19 Crimes Behind Bars 13.5% vol. is a powerful Australian red wine that impressively carries on the rebellious heritage of the 19 Crimes brand. Inspired by the 19 Crimes for which convicts were deported to Australia in the 18th century, this wine is symbolic of courage, freedom and the indomitable spirit of those who rebelled against fate. With its distinctive character, depth and modern interpretation of Australian red wine art, Behind Bars is a wine that impresses both in flavour and visually.

The cuvée consists predominantly of Shiraz (Syrah), supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, which gives the wine its rich colour, spicy aroma and intense fruitiness. The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards in south-east Australia, where the warm days and cool nights ensure optimum ripening conditions. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine is matured in oak barrels to develop structure, complexity and subtle flavour. With an alcohol content of 13.5% vol., the 19 Crimes Behind Bars presents itself as a perfectly balanced composition of power, fruit and soft tannin structure.

Tasting NoteIn the glass, the 19 Crimes Behind Bars has a deep ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants and cherries, accompanied by notes of vanilla, mocha, pepper and fine oak spice. It is full-bodied, juicy and harmonious on the palate, with supple tannins, ripe fruit and a long, spicy finish.

Residual sugar: 2.7 g/litre

This Australian red wine is an ideal accompaniment to BBQ dishes, beef steaks, lamb chops or savoury pasta sauces. It also unfolds its full potential with savoury burgers or strong cheeses. Served at 16-18 °C, 19 Crimes Behind Bars is at its best – full-bodied, juicy and with the rebellious charm for which the brand is famous.
