Tullibardine Sherry Finish 0,7L (43% Vol.)

The Tullibardine distillery from the Scottish Highlands had many owners since it was founded in 1949 until it was finally closed down. However, it was not to be forgotten, so shortly after the death of founder William Delmè-Evans in 2003, it was revived by a number of single malt whisky experts. Alongside other new releases, the Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish is an impressive result of the reorientation and, like its history, is so convincing with its complexity and variety that it can ultimately be considered a success. The single malt whisky won the silver medal at the international “Wine & Spirits Competition” in 2014.

Production

The Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish is initially stored in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. This storage of the single malt Scotch whisky ensures a full-bodied sweetness. The distillate is then transferred to 500-liter sherry casks, which were previously filled with brandy from Jerez in Andalusia (Spain), for a further 12 months for refinement. The dark golden whisky is then bottled in beautifully shaped bottles with a thick glass base, without any color additives. The company focuses on its expertise in production rather than investing a lot of money in marketing, enabling it to offer high-quality whisky at relatively low prices.

Aroma

The whisky initially seduces with a note of spice, which is accompanied by toffee, brown sugar and a fruity addition of baked apple. The influence of the sherry cask does not go undetected either. Cinnamon and caramel candies are almost reminiscent of a Christmas aroma.

Taste

The taste of the Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish is rich and expressive. Soft sherry notes lie on the tongue, which is enveloped by a little honey, vanilla and dates. Spicy notes such as pepper and wood resonate.

Finish

A clear sherry finish is accompanied by a long-lasting spiciness and chocolaty, creamy sweetness, which is joined by ground almonds and fruit.
