£95.90

Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask
The Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask is a 19-year-old Scottish single malt whisky produced by the Glenfiddich distillery. Its full name is “Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask 19 Years”, whereby “Age of Discovery” is often abbreviated as AOD or A.O.D.
The Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask is the second whisky of the Age of Discovery series and is based on a lot of tradition by its production and its taste.
The three-part AOD series includes the Bourbon Cask, the Red Wine Cask Scotch (matured in red wine barrels) and the Madeira Cask Single Malt (matured in Madeira barrels).
The Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask proves that not only Glenfiddich connoisseurs appreciate whisky with its awards. In 2013, the single malt received the gold medal from the International Spirits Challenge.

Maturation
To demonstrate the peculiarity of the Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask’s storage, one has to go back a little further in history.
Once on the Mississippi, oak barrels filled with American Bourbon were transported to New Orleans. These bourbon barrels were used only once and the storage of the bourbon was short enough to minimize the wear of the barrels.
These barrels are used exclusively for the storage of the Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask. It is therefore the first and only Glenfiddich whisky to spend its 19 years exclusively in American Bourbon barrels.
This gives it many aromas of bourbon, such as the unique, spicy sweetness and the taste of ripe fruits.
Aroma
The 19-year-old Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask comes with a warm scent of toffee and bitter citrus notes. The fruity character of the Single Malt Whisky is strongly noticeable, also because the lemon is supported by a present scent of orange liqueur. The nosing is rounded off by an elegant, smoky undertone of wood.
Taste
A fruity taste is present, as was already the case with nosing. The Bourbon notes are easy to recognise and add a harmonising spice to the summer sweetness. The tannins are particularly complex, which together with vanilla, leather and Havana tobacco nuances provide an extraordinary taste experience. On the palate, the whisky leaves a velvety and sweet mouthfeel with spicy tips of cardamom and nutmeg.
On the finish, Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask is long, complex and warm
