Glenfiddich Madeira Cask is a 19 year old single Malt Scotch Whisky. The whisky is one of three from the new Age of Discovery (also abbreviated AOD or A.O.D) series of the distillery Glenfiddich. This series is a tribute to Portuguese explorers and sailors from the 15th century, and each whisky has a different “theme”. As the first bottling in this series, the Glenfiddich Madeira Cask pays tribute to the story with its finish in fine Madeira casks. The Glenfiddich Distillery, one of the most successful in Scotland, is known for its combination of tradition, history and taste.

The Glenfiddich Madeira Cask has a total storage time of 19 years. The single malt receives its finish in barrels from the Madeira producer Henriques & Henriques, an independent island winery that has existed in Madeira since 1850.
The use of Madeira barrels is unique and unique for a Glenfiddich whisky.
Nosing
The smell of Glenfiddich Madeira Cask is deep and earthy. It has a high degree of fruitiness thanks to figs and orange jam. In addition, there are tips of ripe gooseberries and grapes, which, however, remain discreetly in the background.
Taste
The Glenfiddich Madeira Cask convinces with a distinct warmth that lies well on the tongue. The earthy, light whisky takes the warmth with it and harmonises it with a final, long-lasting sweetness. Caramel, malt and fruit are present.
In addition to the fresh and ripe fruits, sweet vanilla and heather honey can also be seen in the aroma. Also traces of spicy cinnamon and oak wood as well as a slight hint of pepper, which brings some spiciness again, are noticeable.
Finish
The finish of the single malt is dry, long and sweet. The Glenfiddich Madeira Cask gains an unbelievable depth and complexity through the storage in Madeira barrels. In the finish, the fruity notes are once again clear, including for example jam.
Awards
The 19-year-old whisky is not only well received by Glenfiddich connoisseurs. He has also received several international awards. In 2012 the Glenfiddich Madeira Cask received a silver medal at the “International Wine & Spirit Competition”. One year later (2013) the single malt was awarded a gold medal at the “International Spirits Challenge” (ISC).
